Having originally used my uber mad skillz to get info on this I came to the conclusion it was the results of the 1500m freestlye swimming. I was wrong. It is the mens 200m. The two with their fists in the air are Tommie Smith and John Carlos and both belong to the Black Power movement. Peter Norman, the Australian in the picture wore the same civil rights badge his fellow medal winners did. See Salute The Peter Norman story for some more info.
